faq's

GENERAL:

Is there a set day & times for practices and games?

No, we are not able to set certain days for teams due to field availability and not knowing how many teams we will have each season in each division. Practice times will be 6:00pm & 7:30pm; Game times will be 6:00pm & 7:45pm. 

Can I request certain nights for my daughter to play? 

No, we are not able to set certain days for teams due to field availability.   

When is Spring & Fall Registration? 

We try to open Spring Registration around year-end and Fall Registration around mid-July. 

When will schedules be posted?

We always try our best to have them posted as early in the season as we can. Worse case scenario is the weekend before practices start. Game schedules will come out about 2 weeks after practices start. 

Do you form new teams each season or do they stay together?

We do allow teams to stay together as long as the same coach/assistant coach is staying with them. We also have new teams created in every division every season as well. 

Can we create an outside team and sign-up to play in BVGSA?

No, all players must sign up through BVGSA and go through player evaluations to be drafted to a team. 

How many games are teams scheduled to play each season? 

Each team is scheduled to play 8 season games.  Plus, 8u-16u divisions play in an end of season single elimination tournament. 

What divisions play in the end of season tournament?

Division 8u and up play in an end of season single elimination tournament. The tournament starts after the regular season ends.  6u division has an end of season celebration (no tournament).   


PLAYER INFORMATION:

Are metal cleats allowed?

No, for the safety of all girls in our league. 

What does a player need for evaluations?

Every player needs to have their own glove. If they have their own bat & helmet please bring it as well.  BVGSA does have some bats & helmets for community use.  Softball cleats are recommended, but can also wear athletic tennis shoes.  

Can a player request to be on the same team as a friend?

BVGSA is only accepting special requests for 6u division and we will do our best to honor them.  Special requests for 8u-16u divisions are not accepted.  Sibling requests are the only exception.   

Do the teams have certain equipment that the players can use?

All teams are given the following: balls, catchers equipment & helmets. If we have extra bats we will give those to the 6u division (tee-ball), if needed. 

Does the league provide pants & socks as part of the uniform?

We do NOT provide socks, belts and pants. The team/coach will decide what color of pants, belts & socks to wear and it is the players responsibility to purchase those.  BVGSA only supplies the team jerseys.   

What happens if a game is rained out?

At the end of each season there is one week between regular season and tournament games; that week we will schedule rained out games. We will only try one time to make-up a game, if it is rained out a second time, it will not be made up. 

Does a player have to be on the same team the next season?

No, a player does not have to be on the same team each season.  If they would like to change teams they will have to attend player evaluations and go back into the draft. 

What happens if a players team has to move up a division but a player does not want to?

The player will need to make a decision, move up and stay with the team or stay in current division and attend player evaluations and go back into the draft to be chosen for a new team. 

Who is required to attend player evaluations? 

All 8u and up players, except; coaches children as they are automatically on their parents team & players who are staying with their team from the previous season. 

Will we be on the same field for practices and games?

Most likely not. 


COACHES:

When will rosters be sent out?

We try to get rosters out within 1-2 days after the player draft meeting. 

Do teams get assigned team names and colors? 

No they do not, the coaches/teams get to pick name & color. Returning teams do have preferences on their previous colors. 

Who is responsible for team sponsors? 

Coaches are asked to please secure a sponsor for the team.  BVGSA can help with securing one too.   

How can a sponsor pay? 

They can pay by check or cash to the coach or mail in a check to PO BOX 9797 College Station, TX 7742. Checks are made payable to BVGSA.  If payments are given to the coach the coach will give it to the division coordinator.
